Strawberry Shortcake originally made her mark on history as she was created by Muriel Fahrion to be a logo for a greeting card. After the creation was presented to the head of the company he decided to invest in this curious and sweet little girl and her cat, Custard. The creator of Strawberry Shortcake went on to create another thirty two characters in relation to the licensing agreement. Later artist also designed the other characters that became part of the classy and classic Strawberry Shortcake gang.
The first product that made Strawberry Shortcake history was the first doll creation. The first doll was an actual rag doll type that was created by a designer known as Susan Trentel, the original designers sister. This rag doll became a signature design for the little girl who wore dated clothes and looked to be from another era.
|Strawberry Shortcake left her mark on the history of the 1980s by being a top desired item fad for many children in the US. Strawberry Shortcake and her friends all sported fruity themes that were not limited to the names of their pets. Each pet of each gang member took on the fruity aspect as well. All of the characters lived in Strawberryland and enjoyed their magical world surroundings. This franchise eventually spawned a long line of merchandise that included a lot of sticker albums, clothing and even bed clothes. It seemed each time the fad began to wane there was a new marketing strategy in place to send it soaring back to the top.
