Soccer is among the most popular sports in the world and is especially popular with younger children in America. If you have a little budding soccer star with a Birthday coming up, why not surprise them with a soccer party, complete with a soccer menu.
The soccer theme is increasing popular and thus you can find a number of soccer plates, napkins and decorations at almost any party supply or discount store. Colors should, of course, include the black and white of the ball, but also the vibrant green of a freshly mowed soccer field. Given the age of the attendees, it may be hard to get the guests to sit still long enough to eat much. Therefore, focus on snacks and finger foods rather than a full meal.
For kicks, have a sports themed menu at the soccer party. NFL pigskin potatoes, Basketball Hoops of Ice Cream, and Baseball Brats.
To make NFL Pigskin potatoes at the soccer party you’ll need the following ingredients: four small baking potatoes (one pound total), one 8 ounce can of sliced or diced carrots, drained, 1/2 of an 8 ounce container reduced calorie soft style cream cheese, one to two tablespoons skim milk, 1/8 teaspoon pepper, and 2 tablespoons chopped green onions. Next bake potatoes in a 375 degree oven about 45 minutes or until tender. Cool slightly. Cut potatoes in half lengthwise. Gently scoop out each potato half, leaving a thin shell. In a small mixer bowl combine potato pulp, carrots, cream cheese, 1 tablespoon milk and pepper. Beat until smooth, adding more milk, if necessary. Stir in green onions. Spoon potato mixture into potato shells. Place on a baking sheet. Bake in a 375 degree oven for 15 to 18 minutes or until heated through. For a free garnish, chop the tops of the green onions and sprinkle over the potato boats before serving. Makes 8 servings.
These dishes will accent the love of sports for any soccer fan at the soccer party. By just adding even one simple food item to the menu will help create
a complete Soccer theme party feeling. |
