Hollywood will go down in history as Tinsel Town, or the town that never sleeps. It is situated northwest of downtown LA and is a huge center for arts, culture and the famous line of movie studios. However the history of Hollywood has unfolded it has always been deeply portrayed in the movies created right there in the same town.
Fortunately the history of Hollywood is somewhat of a revolving door. As stars come and go so do trends or types of characters in the movies created here in the movie capital of the world. As Hollywood was a much more centrally located area in the past, it has now leaked a bit around its edges and over into adjoining locales. The areas surrounding it such as the Westside neighborhoods have also been drawn into the industry.
As its own district within the city of Los Angeles the town of Hollywood doesn't contain its own municipal governing body. Although Hollywood often appoints an honorary title upon one of its long standing members, known as the honorary, "Mayor of Hollywood," this is indeed just in name only and only lasted up until the most recent Mayor of Hollywood, Johnny Grant, died in January of 2008. However Hollywood chooses to display its respect for some of its comrades has always been a topic of interest within this small town. Where movies are made of love stories or tragic ones, it is an inevitable possibility that even the stories of those who help to create the stories, may one day be seen in a movie theater as well.
