Bridal Shower
COOKIES

Peasant cookies might be just the right surprise dessert for a homemade bridal shower cookie. You will have enough to do, as you prepare this shower for a best friend or sister, so having a simple, yet delicious, recipe for cookies will be just the thing to make this day a bit easier.
To begin your homemade bridal shower cookies, start with a cup of butter. You will also need a cup of sugar, a tablespoon of molasses, ¾ of a cup of chopped nuts, 2 ¾ cups of sifted flour, and teaspoon of baking soda. Cream the butter, then blend in the sugar and molasses. Add the nuts, then the sifted dry ingredients. Form the dough into rolls that will later be sliced into cookies. Chill the rolls thoroughly in the refrigerator for about an hour.
To complete the recipe for your homemade bridal shower cookies, cut the chilled cookie dough into then slices. Grease a cookie sheet, or use parchment paper, so that the cookies won’t stick. Then bake in a moderate oven of 350 degrees, about 12 to 15 minutes. You should have 60 cookies from this recipe for your bridal shower, and your guests will think you slaved over a hot oven for hours. If you have heart shaped cookie cutters, you can enhance the sliced homemade bridal shower cookies before baking. You might even want to use star cookie cutters, as the bride to be is something of a star herself. Have a combination of hearts, stars and even rings that you can make with a smaller cookie cutter to make the hole. If desired, sprinkle with baking sugar glitter. |
