An invitation that specifically invites a person by name may be considered very special, and it is definitely designed to encourage the guest to attend since the time was taken to invite that particular person to the party. It also makes it rather a private affair, rather than a stock invitation found at a store that is the same for everyone invited.

What To Say In The Invitations For An Adult Party
The basic details of the party are necessary for any invitation, such as the day of the week, date, time and location. But if the party is going to have a certain theme, this needs to be indicated on the invitation, as well. For example, a casino theme would indicate that there will be gambling of sorts, even if it is make believe, and the invitation may include cardboard chips, play money, or vouchers of sorts. If it is a costume party, this also needs to be indicated in the invitations.

When To Mail The Invitations
Invitations should be received by guests at least two weeks before a party. If there is a theme that requires guests to wear a costume, then the invitations should be sent out perhaps a month before. The guests need extra time to prepare when a costume needs to be put together.
