70s Party Invitations

Stock Invitations
Planning a 70s party is fun and like all parties there are lots of details to take care of. Using stock invitations can help make the planning a little easier and free up value time for other party details. The 70s have several images that are just what everyone associates with the decade; for example disco balls, lava lamps, leisure suits, big afro wigs or thigh high boots. These are all images that immediately recall the 1970s so use them on invitations. Get clip art or use cutouts, the guests will automatically connect the image with the era and it will creative a sense of anticipation and fun.

Personalized 70s Invitations
On the other hand, you may want to make a different statement with the invitations by personalizing them. This is easily done by printing or writing the guest’s name on the invitation not just the envelope. If you have a picture of the guest, consider using a clipart image or photo of a disco dancer and putting the guest’s head from the photo on it. If you will be using popular 70s music at the party think about writing the chorus or well know lyrics of a 70s song and adding the guest’s name in the appropriate places.

When To Mail the Invitations
Mailing out the invitations is one aspect of party planning with which hosts often struggle. Is eight weeks too early or is two weeks too late. If the party is going to be in what you know is a busy party season, then consider sending “save the date” cards six to eight weeks in advance and the invitation three or four weeks in advance. If only the invitation will be sent then aim for the three to four week period. It is long enough for guests to mark calendars and to let you know if they plan to come.
